Moscow Traffic Police Car Blown Up: At Least One Officer Killed, Several Injured

In Russia’s capital, Moscow, a traffic police vehicle was blown up, killing at least one officer at the scene.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported the incident.

The explosion occurred near Savyolovsky railway station at approximately 12:05 a.m. local time. The police vehicle was parked by the side of the road at the time of the blast.

According to investigators, an unidentified man approached the vehicle carrying the police officers, after which an unidentified explosive device was detonated.

As a result of the injuries sustained, a lieutenant was killed at the scene. Two other officers were injured and taken to a city hospital for treatment.

After analyzing video footage from the scene, Russian investigators stated that the man who may have been involved in the bombing of the traffic police vehicle also likely died at the scene.

Meanwhile, Russian propaganda Telegram channels reported immediately after the explosion that witnesses had spotted an unidentified man in a black jacket who was allegedly filming everything, and then disappeared from the scene after the blast.

“Police are searching for a short-haired man dressed in black who filmed the explosion and fled the scene. According to local residents, neighboring buildings shook from the blast,” Russian public channels reported.

They also stated that the likely cause of the explosion was an improvised explosive device that had been thrown into the police vehicle.
