Moldovan police and Ukrainian law enforcement officers, working as part of a joint investigative team, are conducting a criminal investigation into an alleged plot to assassinate several public figures in Ukraine.
Moldova’s police announced this on the morning of February 19 via Telegram.
According to Moldovan authorities, the planned crimes were being organized under the direction of Russian intelligence services.
Investigative actions have been underway since 6:00 a.m., carried out by officers of the Organized Crime Directorate and criminal investigators from the National Investigation Inspectorate (INI), together with prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS).
The operations are being conducted with the support of officers from the Fulger special unit, as part of a joint investigative team formed by Moldovan police and Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.

The incident occurred in the city of Puławy. According to reports, the 25-year-old man activated the emergency brake of a freight train traveling on the Szczecin–Dorohusk route, which was carrying, among other cargo, oil.
The incident is being investigated by Poland’s Military Counterintelligence Service and the Internal Security Agency, indicating that this was not an accidental or technical issue, but a deliberate act.
During the arrest, officers seized several mobile phones, SIM cards, power banks, and documents written in Russian from the man.
