Russian MiG-31K aircraft, armed with Kinzhal missiles, flew over the waters of the Sea of Japan.

This was reported by the Russian propaganda agency TASS, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense.

During the patrol, the crews of the Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft practiced in-flight refueling.

The MiG-31Ks are carriers of Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles, which the Russian side classifies as hypersonic weapons.

Such aircraft are regularly deployed for demonstrations of force in various regions, particularly near the borders of NATO countries and Japan, as well as for strikes against Ukraine.

In January, Russian strategic aviation conducted training flights near Japanese airspace in the waters of the Sea of Japan.

Accompanying them were two fighter jets, whose route lay eastward over the Sea of Japan. Off the coast of Shimane Prefecture, the aircraft changed course and headed north toward mainland Russia.
