Spain transfers to Ukraine another batch of military assistance, consisting of medicines, first aid kits, 120mm and 155mm ammunition and missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
This was reported by the Spanish Ministry of Defense.
The corresponding statement was made by Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles during a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at the ministerial level.
Robles said that recently Spain had provided Ukraine with a batch of medicines, individual first aid kits and 120-mm and 155-mm artillery ammunition.
Ms Robles added that the country would hand over an additional batch of ammunition to Ukraine in the coming months.
Separately, the Minister stressed that the air defense was a fundamental problem and announced the sending of Patriot missiles to Ukraine.
In addition, Spanish assistance, which is planned for the next two months, includes light and heavy machine guns, protected logistics vehicles, armored vehicles, anti-tank weapons and howitzers.
Next, Spain plans to transfer air surveillance systems made by the national defense industry and remotely controlled weapons to protect against drones.
Robles also said that the preparation of Leopard tanks for the transfer to Ukraine was on track, and the first units would be ready by the end of June.
Recently, Militarnyi reported that the Spanish government plans to transfer additional 20 Leopard 2A4 tanks for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2024.
Thus, the total number of transferred Leopard 2 tanks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will increase to 30 units.
Before being sent to Ukraine, the tanks will undergo appropriate repairs at the Santa Bárbara Sistemas enterprise.
