Romania aims to produce Ukrainian drones domestically, with plans to supply them to other European countries as well.
In light of this, the Romanian Ministry of National Defence has begun negotiations with its Ukrainian counterparts, according to Digi24.
The potential agreement is expected to be discussed during an upcoming meeting between the defense ministers of both nations.
The idea is that Ukrainian manufacturers will provide technologies developed based on real combat conditions, while Romania will finance the joint production of components on its territory.
The exact location of the potential production site has not yet been determined, but it is likely to be Brașov.
The produced drones will be supplied to the Romanian Armed Forces, with a portion planned for export to interested European countries.
However, journalists have learned that there are currently no available funds in the Romanian budget for the rapid implementation of such a project. Therefore, it is most likely that the joint drone production agreement between Ukraine and Romania will begin in 2026.
