French President Emmanuel Macron stated that France currently provides about two-thirds of Ukraine’s military intelligence in the war with Russia.

Emmanuel Macron voiced this position during New Year’s greetings to the French armed forces from the 125th airbase in Istres – the event and speech were broadcast at the Élysée Palace.

According to Macron, French services coordinate and provide the Ukrainian army with intelligence data necessary for planning offensive operations and defense.

This role of Paris, according to the French leader, is becoming critical against the backdrop of a partial review of cooperation with the US on the provision of intelligence information.

“While Ukraine was largely dependent on American intelligence capabilities a year ago, today two-thirds of that intelligence is provided by France. Two-thirds,” said Emmanuel Macron.

France is one of the centers of the coalition of willing countries discussing security guarantees and further support for Ukraine in the post-war period.

At the summit in Paris on January 6, Macron confirmed plans to deploy multinational forces in the event of an end to the war, with the participation of France, the UK, and other partners.

He also noted that the Ukrainian army remains the “first line” of defense, and that external support should strengthen its capabilities, including intelligence and logistics.

Paris is considering the possibility of deploying several thousand French troops after the end of the war to control the border and stabilize the situation.

Macron stressed that these units would not take part in combat operations and would be deployed “far from the front line.”

French support covers not only intelligence, but also the modernization of forces and possible participation in the training of Ukrainian military personnel in the future.

Earlier, Paris also discussed the deployment of two brigades to guarantee Ukraine’s security in Europe after the end of the war.
