French President Emmanuel Macron calls for the creation of a third European route between the United States and China.

He made the appeal during his speech, according to Politico.

According to him, Europe is doomed if it does not take bold actions to fight the protectionism of the USA and China.

He noted that Europe must have been resilient amid serious geopolitical threats from authoritarian regimes and had its own appropriate independence.

“The Continent under-invests in innovation, fails to protect its industries and boost its military and defenses,” Macron said.

He noted that “the era of basing European production in China, of delegating our defense to the U.S., and of getting our energy from Russia is over.”

The French President accused both the U.S. and China of failing to respect the global trade rules in massively subsidizing their economies.

“However strong our alliance with America is, we are not a priority for them. They have two priorities: themselves — fair enough — and China,” the President added.

Macron’s position is related to the great pressure on France from the United States, as today France is the only country in Europe that is capable of conducting major military operations and has a powerful independent defense industry.

Macron said the EU should aim to become a “world leader” by 2030, with “dedicated financing strategies” in five strategic areas: artificial intelligence, quantum information, space, biotechnologies and new energies.

Militarnyi previously reported that the French defense industry had begun to increase the number of military equipment produced and also had begun the production of nuclear warheads.

This will enable the country to maintain its leadership in arms exports and support its armed forces with modern weapons.
