The U.S. Department of Defense has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine.
The relevant statement appeared on the website of the U.S. Department of Defense.
This Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) package has an estimated value of $225 million.
The new defense package will provide Ukraine with additional capabilities to meet its most urgent battlefield needs, such as: air defense interceptors; artillery systems and munitions; armored vehicles; and anti-tank weapons.
The capabilities in this announcement include:
‘‘The United States will continue to work together with more than 50 Allies and partners to ensure Ukraine’s brave defenders receive the critical capabilities needed to fight Russian aggression,” the U.S. Department of Defense stated.
The previous military aid package worth $275 million was announced on May 24.
Like the new package, the previous one included ammunition, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons.
On May 10, Militarnyi reported on the provision of a new military aid package to Ukraine, the total cost of which is estimated at $400 million. The tranche of aid was also provided under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) program.
The package included additional ammunition for HIMARS, artillery ammunition, armored vehicles, and infantry fighting vehicles.
In addition, it included additional munitions for Patriot air defense systems, and other critical equipment and weapons.
As in the previous aid package, attention is drawn to the integration of launchers, missiles and radars with Ukrainian air defense systems, better known as FrankenSAM.
As previously reported, the United States, under the FrankenSAM project, helped Ukraine get two types of anti-aircraft missile systems capable of using Western missiles.
