M-FLY Presented RB-220 Camera with Laser Guidance, Which Was Already Tested in Ukraine

The Estonian company M-FLY has presented the RB-220 gyro-stabilized camera, a multifunctional surveillance system that combines optoelectronic sensors, a thermal imager and a laser module.

A company representative told Militarnyi about the system at the Brave1 Components exhibition.

Its main feature is the ability not only to detect targets but also to precisely aim laser weapons at them at a distance of up to 2-3 km.

The camera was tested in Ukraine. This made it possible to test the system in real conditions as close to combat as possible.

The RB-220 is designed for use on unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopters, ground mobile systems and stationary posts. Due to its compact size and light weight, it can be easily integrated into various carriers.

The camera weighs 5.5 kg and has a diameter of 225 mm. Biaxial stabilization with an accuracy of less than 50 microradians ensures a clear image even while moving, and continuous 360° rotation allows for viewing in any direction. The system power is 70 W.

The RB-220 laser module operates at a wavelength of 1064 nm, has a pulse energy of 15 mJ and a repetition rate of up to 32 pulses per second.

It allows the camera to ‘illuminate’ targets for aiming at high-precision weapons at a distance of 2-3 km.

This opens up the possibility of adjusting M712 Copperhead artillery shells, APKWS missiles, Paveway IV bombs, and more.

The optoelectronic sensor has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, 30x optical zoom and 3x digital zoom. It allows for quick switching between a wide view and a detailed study of the target.

According to DRI-indicators, the EO/IR module is capable of detecting vehicles at a distance of up to 10 km, recognizing them at 2 km and identifying them at 1.5 km. For humans, these figures are 2 km, 1.2 km and 1.2 km.

The LWIR thermal imaging module has a resolution of 640×512 pixels, 8× digital zoom, and a sensitivity of less than 50 mK. It can detect vehicles at a distance of up to 16 km and a person at a distance of up to 2 km, even at night.
