Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko accidentally showed what the Russian medium-range ballistic missile system Oreshnik (Kedr) looks like.
The images appeared on the propaganda resource Pul Pervogo.
A model of the system was spotted in the dictator’s office. Judging by the photo, the Oreshnik is mounted on a chassis with a 12×12 wheel configuration, likely MZKT-79291.
This chassis is already used to deploy the RT-2PM2 Topol-M and RS-26 Rubezh systems.
At the same time, the dimensions of the new missile are visually smaller than these models. The Oreshnik model has a shorter length and a smaller diameter, but it is possible that this was done deliberately for concealment or is a result of scaling errors.
Recently, it became known that the Russian medium-range ballistic missile system Oreshnik was deployed in Belarus.
The deployment of the complex is allegedly necessary to protect the country’s national security and is not a sign of an arms race or escalation of confrontation.
Back on September 25, self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko announced the deployment of the system on Belarusian territory.
It is not yet known whether it is equipped with nuclear warheads.
It is known that the Russian intermediate-range ballistic missile is developed on the basis of the RS-26 Rubezh. The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine detailed that the real name of the complex is not Oreshnik but Kedr.
The missile was equipped with six warheads: each warhead was equipped with six submunitions. The speed on the final section of the trajectory is over 11 machs.
Tests of the Kedr missile system took place at the Kapustin Yar test site in October 2023 and June 2024.
