Alexander Lukashenko claims that the Belarusian opposition is allegedly planning to seize the country’s Kobryn district and appeal to NATO to send troops there.
The self-proclaimed president of Belarus said this at the VII All-Belarusian People’s Assembly.
“At least to seize some, I don’t know why they chose Kobryn district, they talk about it a lot there. But it is not near the border. There are other districts closer to the border. No, Kobryn district. Seize it, declare power, appeal to NATO, send in troops,” he says.
Lukashenko complained that Ukraine had allegedly deployed 120,000 troops on the border with Belarus.
The self-proclaimed president also mentioned Belarusian volunteers fighting in the Ukrainian Defense Forces. According to him, they “will go in the second line behind NATO troops.”
He also stated that the likelihood of “armed incidents on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border is quite high.”
In March, Militarnyi reported that in Belarus, the military is practicing the mobilization of reservists and vehicles as part of a combat readiness test.
Within these activities, the military commissariat of the Minsk district conscripts persons liable for military service for military training.
Before being sent to the military, Belarusian military personnel arrive at the assembly points of village executive committees and military commissariats.
It is also noted that certain equipment is coming from enterprises and organizations, is being inspected and is ready to be sent to military units.
In particular, the 19th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade deployed a vehicle reception center.
The main task of the center is to receive vehicles from government agencies and organizations, and distribute and transfer equipment to units for further missions.
According to the published photos, trucks, dump trucks, and excavators are at the disposal of the military. This equipment is used to transport supplies and perform a number of other tasks. Military drivers also arrive with the equipment.
In December 2023, Militarnyi reported that the Western Operational Command of Armed Forces of Belarus had launched the readiness inspection of the tank battalion of one of the mechanized brigades.
During the inspection, the battalion will be manned up, weapons, military and special equipment will be removed from storage and prepared for use.
The main aspect of the inspection is the involvement of military personnel who previously served in tank units of the Western Military District.
During the exercises, the Belarusian tank unit practiced a march to overcome the water obstacle on the pontoon bridge, led by soldiers of the 557th Engineering Brigade.
After overcoming the water obstacle, the tank unit occupied the concentration area and began preparing weapons and equipment for use.
The photos capture a T-72B with a welded-on “grill”, which had been demonstrated only once before, at least officially, on a modernized T-72BM2 in 2022.
