Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has supported the idea of building a drone manufacturing plant to meet Russia’s needs.

The Moscow Times reported on this.

The discussion about constructing such a facility in Belarus took place during a bilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Volgograd.

According to Putin, a production lab will be built on Belarusian territory, enabling the mass manufacturing of drones for specific needs.

It is worth noting that the idea of building such a facility was first voiced back in March 2025, when Russian Presidential Administration Deputy Head Maksim Oreshkin stated that the project involves a plant capable of producing up to 100,000 units per month.

The idea envisions expanding production capabilities, with Belarus playing a supporting role in manufacturing certain components. According to Oreshkin, this will help the country establish its own production capacities.

Additionally, the manufacturing process will focus on technical solutions already used by Russia, enabling the full localization of production.

“It is very important for Belarus to have its own production facilities that would make not only the economy but also the country’s security sector truly sovereign,” he said.

In addition, the facility will be integrated into a unified technological platform similar to those used by Russian enterprises, which will simplify the modification and improvement of projects.

As noted by the media, construction of the facility is expected to take about one year and will help Belarus acquire drone capabilities similar to those of Russia.

Militarnyi previously reported that Iran and Belarus had agreed to expand military cooperation.

The Iranian delegation confirmed its readiness to deepen cooperation, particularly in the field of technology transfer. For its part, the Belarusian side expressed satisfaction with the growing level of partnership and emphasized the need to accelerate joint projects in the field of military equipment production.
