Recently, at the LUCH State Kyiv Design Bureau began to manufacture another battalion of the Neptune coastal missile system for the Ukrainian Navy.

Currently, there are ongoing trials of the first serial cruise missile launcher. During these trials, the work of the hydraulics systems in winter period is checked.

According to the Commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Neizhpapa, the first battalion of Neptune coastal missile system will be transferred to the fleet until April 2022.

The plans of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to agree on the production of the second battalion of the Neptune coastal missile system became known in December last year.

The General Director of the enterprise Oleg Korostelev reported such information in an interview with the TV channel Apostrophe (project Security Talks). The agreement should be concluded by the end of 2021.

In January 2021, we wrote that the Ukrainian Navy created a missile battalion armed with Neptune.

Neptune for Ukrainian Navy

The Ministry of Defense signed the contract for the production of one battalion of the system at the end of 2020. Financing of the purchase of the Neptune RK-360MC complex for the 2021 year amounted to 720,164,6 thousand UAH, which at February’s exchange rate is $ 25.9 million.

RK-360MC Neptune coastal missile system was adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on August 23, 2020. After this event, it became known about the completion of cooperation in the development with the Ukrainian manufacturer of JSC “AvtoKrAZ” and the transition to the chassis of the TATRA brand.

The Neptune system is equipped with R-360 cruise missiles that fly at high altitudes at a range of about 300 km. The missile has launch and main engines. The system includes unified launchers, transport-charging machines, transport machines and a mobile command post.

Now one of the parts of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is the experimental operation of the system with a launcher and special vehicles from the KrAZ. The first public launches of the rocket R-360 held in January 2018.
