The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has tested Lithuanian-made FPV drones in conditions as close to combat as possible.

The Ministry of Defense of Lithuania reported on this.

It was organized so that Ukraine could choose the products that best meet the needs of Ukrainian soldiers.

Five Lithuanian manufacturing companies successfully performed after the improvement of the drones based on feedback from Ukrainian experts.

“Lithuania seeks to promote the production of drones and counter-drone systems. This is also very important for Ukraine. Ukrainians are sharing their experience of operating drones on the battlefield, testing drones from our manufacturers, and, having selected the most suitable ones, will sign contracts with the manufacturing companies. This is a great encouragement and a significant step for our drone manufacturers, as drone technology and capabilities are a prerequisite for having modern armed forces,” Minister of National Defense Laurynas Kasčiūnas said.

The Lithuanian-made drones brought to Ukraine for testing differed in terms of technical characteristics, components, and innovative technologies used.

Representatives of the Ukrainian army evaluated the samples and prepared recommendations.

In the near future, taking into account the assessments and proposals of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Lithuanian manufacturers that participated in the tests will be asked to submit final proposals and sign contracts.

To support Ukraine, it is planned to allocate €5 million for the purchase of Lithuanian drones, in addition to the same equipment purchased for the needs of the Lithuanian army (up to €3 million).

Militarnyi reported on July 26 that the Lithuanian government will soon allocate an additional €20 million for the purchase of various types of combat and reconnaissance drones.

In addition, part of the funds will be used to train instructors and UAV operators who will adopt the Ukrainian experience.

The next step would be to integrate drone capabilities into the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
