Lithuania will acquire 37 Polish-made kamikaze drones to hand them over to Ukraine.

Arvydas Anušauskas, Minister of Defense of Lithuania, twitted this news on his account.

Some of the funds raised under the Legion of Boom initiative will be transferred for this purchase. It’s approximately 1 million euros.

“Part of the funds collected by #LegionOfBoom (1,000,000 euros) will be transferred to Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense and will be used for the purchase of 37 kamikaze drones from Poland and then sent to Ukraine,” wrote Arvydas Anušauskas.

Journalist Andrius Tapinas, the initiator of the Legion of Boom campaign, said that the manufacturer of the WB Group will provide some drones for free.

“At first, 25 were expected, but we did manage to agree on 27, and another 10 Polish manufacturers will donate to Ukraine,” he wrote on Facebook.

This citation applies to Warmate loitering munition.

They were first introduced in 2014. The manufacturer claims the munition is a good alternative to guided anti-tank missiles.

In comparison with the ATGM, it allows to destroy enemy equipment at a more significant distance, simplifies the process of detecting and hitting the target.

The impact system in version 3.0 has improved parameters. These include, in particular, increased radio range and operating range. The new version is equipped with an engine that makes significantly less noise. The system has the ability to automatically fold the propeller blades in the final phase of attack.

Ukraine’s defense forces are already using Warmate barrage ammunition.

Presumably, such kamikaze drones were used during the strike on the positions of Russian troops near the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant in July 2022.
