Lithuania will hand over winter uniforms for approximately 25,000 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Arvydas Anušauskas, Minister of Defense of the country, announced this, Delfi writes.

According to the minister, Lithuania has transferred and will continue transferring to Ukraine not only military equipment but also winter uniforms for the Ukrainian servicemen of a total value of about two million euros.

“In the coming months, winter uniforms worth several million euros will be purchased from Lithuanian enterprises and handed over to the Ukrainian servicemen. Thus, approximately 25,000 Ukrainian soldiers will be provided with winter equipment,” Anušauskas said during his speech in the Seimas on Tuesday.

The Minister also reminded about the 105-mm howitzers and M113 armored personnel carriers that were transferred to Ukraine by Lithuania.

He mentioned that 500 Ukrainian servicemen have been equipped in Lithuania, and starting from October, Lithuanian military instructors will join the training mission for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Great Britain.

“Currently, Lithuania’s assistance with weapons and other military equipment amounts to approximately € 209 million. Lithuania’s support for Ukraine continues, and it is really significant. I would just like to emphasize that this is not a competition between countries on provided aid, we are handing over what we can hand over, and Ukraine asks for what it needs,” said Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Lithuania transferred 50 M113 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine.

“Lithuania has been providing support to Ukraine and will continue to do so. Just three days ago, the APCs that we handed over already arrived in Ukraine, and now, the total number of M113 armored personnel carriers handed over to Ukraine is 50,” said Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas.

He emphasized that approximately in November, Lithuania should be receiving American JLTV armored vehicles to replace the handed-over M113s.

The upcoming transfer of armored personnel carriers from Lithuania to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was announced in mid-September. Before that, Lithuania had already transferred armored vehicles to Ukraine.

The country also took the Ukrainian PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers to conduct repairs. The Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers will presumably be repaired at the Lithuania Defense Services (“LDS”).
