In September, Lithuania will join the international program of military training of the Armed Forces of Great Britain.
This was stated in an interview with Ukrinform by the Head of the Ministry of Defense of the country, Arvydas Anušauskas.
The Minister noted that the Ukrainian military is currently undergoing five training courses in Lithuania.
“In April-May, we offered Ukraine two dozen courses that the Armed Forces could use to train specialists.
Currently, five of them have already been activated, and the Ukrainian military is undergoing training with us. Through October, we will train about 150 specialists in various military professions.
At the same time, some military specialties are very sector-specific,” Anušauskas added.
According to the Minister, Lithuania plans to join the UK project, on the territory of which the Ukrainian military are being trained. The training is carried out by an international group of military instructors.
“Up to 15 Lithuanian instructors will also work there,” the Head of the Ministry of Defense said.
In early July, the first group of Ukrainian soldiers arrived in the United Kingdom.
The course includes weapons programs, combat first aid, field survival, patrol tactics, and the law of armed conflict.
Last month, it was reported that Lithuania would provide additional military support to Ukraine in the form of armored vehicles and instructors. The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive from Lithuania М113 armored personnel carriers and М577 Command Post Carriers.
Lithuania has already transferred to Ukraine Stinger MANPADS, anti-tank weapons, body armor and helmets, 120mm mortars, small arms, ammunition, thermal imagers, drones, anti-drone systems, surveillance radars, M113 armored personnel carriers, trucks, and SUVs.
