In the near future, Ukraine will receive two batches of armored personnel carriers from Lithuania. This decision of the Lithuanian government was announced by Gabrielius Landsbergis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
He came to Ukraine on a working visit together with Simon Coveney, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ireland. The heads of departments discussed their assistance to Ukraine, nuclear safety, and the “green corridor” for the export of Ukrainian grain. After the meeting, the diplomats held a joint press conference in Odesa.
Gabrielius Landsbergis noted that Lithuania was and remains a partner of Ukraine and the provision of military assistance is one of the main areas of cooperation between the countries.
“The Lithuanian government made a decision to transfer two armored personnel carrier batches to Ukraine. One of them will be arriving in Ukraine soon,” Gabrielius Landsbergis said.
The diplomat did not specify which armored vehicles and in what quantity would be transferred.
At the same time, he emphasized that he is sure that the Armed Forces of Ukraine know for sure where and how to use the new equipment.
Previously, Lithuania had already transferred М113 armored personnel carriers and М577 Command Post Carriers to Ukraine.
Also, Lithuania is transferring the M101 105mm towed howitzers stored in the arsenals of the country’s armed forces to Ukraine.
