The Lithuanian government has approved the transfer of fourteen M113 tracked armored personnel carriers to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania.
Armored personnel carriers are expected to arrive in Ukraine within a week.
The transferred armored personnel carriers are intended to enhance the demining capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and represent Lithuania’s contribution to the Coalition for Demining led by Iceland.
The goal of the demining coalition is to unite and coordinate existing and future support from donor countries in both combat and humanitarian demining.
The transfer of armored personnel carriers was initiated by the Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces of Lithuania.
Recently, Military reported that the Lithuanian government will allocate almost €10 million for the rehabilitation of the Ukrainian military.
The funds from the Fund for the Development of Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance are allocated for the implementation of three projects.
These include the reconstruction of the Center for Rehabilitation of Spinal Injuries at Dnipro State University and the renovation of the rehabilitation center “Neskoreni” in the village of Bryukhovychi.
In addition, the Lithuanian government will send funds to strengthen institutions and organizations working in the field of rehabilitation and reintegration in Ukraine.
Previously, on May 29, 2024, it was reported that the Lithuanian government had prepared a financial package for the purchase of radar stations for Ukraine as part of the German air defense initiative.
The package worth €13.5 million will ensure the purchase of radars, which will strengthen the radar coverage of the territory of Ukraine.
Within this financial package, four radar stations will be acquired. It is not officially reported which radar model will be transferred to Ukraine.
