The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine, which will be delivered in August.
The press service of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry reported on this.
In particular, Lithuania will transfer military equipment, anti-aircraft systems, transport and logistics equipment, as well as some old weapons.
“We have, we are and we will continue helping Ukraine fight the aggressor. Lithuania will soon hand over to Ukraine the critically needed short-range air defense systems as a contribution to the German, U.S. and French-led Air and Missile Defense Capability Coalition, Lithuania is a part of. We will also transfer more equipment, systems and weapons needed on the battlefield on a daily basis. Our assistance is an investment in our own security,” stated Minister of National Defence Laurynas Kasčiūnas.
A total of 14 M113 armored personnel carriers, short-range air defense systems with missiles, and drone jamming systems will be delivered to Ukraine in August.
In addition, any donated electronic warfare systems, all-terrain vehicles with spare parts, cargo trailers, 20-ton telescopic loaders, wheel loaders, rifles, ammunition, smoke munitions, gun accessories and spare parts for weapons.
Militarnyi previously reported on the previous military aid package in early July.
A shipment of weapons arrived in Ukraine on July 11. It included ammunition for 5.56×45 mm rifles, anti-drone rifles, and military auxiliary equipment, including folding beds.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military assistance worth more than €641 million. Lithuania’s overall support for Ukraine is long-term and has exceeded €1 billion.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine tested Lithuanian-made FPV drones in conditions as close to combat as possible.
In the near future, taking into account the assessments and proposals of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Lithuanian manufacturers that participated in the tests will be asked to submit final proposals and sign contracts.
To support Ukraine, it is planned to allocate €5 million for the purchase of Lithuanian drones, in addition to the same equipment purchased for the needs of the Lithuanian army (up to €3 million).
