The Lithuanian government will allocate at least 0.25% of its GDP to support Ukraine’s security and defense.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda announced this.
It is reported that the decision was made following a meeting of the State Defense Council of Lithuania.
“Lithuania will continue to stand firmly with Ukraine until victory. We will always support freedom,” Nausėda said.
As previously reported, Lithuania transferred a batch of M113 APCs and related vehicles to Ukraine as part of its military assistance program.
The delivered tracked armored personnel carriers are intended to enhance the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ demining capabilities and represent Lithuania’s contribution to the Coalition for Demining led by Iceland.
The delivery of these armored vehicles was initiated by the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces of Lithuania.
Militarnyi previously reported that the Lithuanian government would allocate almost €10 million for the rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers.
The funds from the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund are intended to implement three projects.
The areas of funding include the reconstruction of the Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation Center at Dnipro State University and the reconstruction of the Neskoreni Rehabilitation Center in the village of Briukhovychi.
In addition, the Lithuanian government will allocate funds to strengthen institutions and organizations working in the field of rehabilitation and reintegration in Ukraine.
On May 29, it was reported that the Lithuanian government prepared a financial package for the purchase of radar stations for Ukraine as part of the German air defense initiative.
The €13.5 million package will provide for the purchase of appropriate radar stations that will enhance Ukraine’s radar coverage.
Four radar stations will be purchased as part of this financial package. It has not been officially reported what kind of radar model will be transferred to Ukraine.
