A joint meeting of Ukraine’s and Germany’s top defense industry companies took place in Munich.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, announced this on his Twitter page.
According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting was held on Saturday, February 18.
This meeting was co-chaired by Dmytro Kuleba and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
The event was organized to discuss important issues of cooperation between companies of the defense industry of both countries.
“Yesterday in Munich, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Annalena Baerbock and I co-chaired a joint meeting of Ukraine’s and Germany’s top defense industry companies.
We organised this important event to directly link our manufacturers. I am confident their cooperation will create new opportunities to strengthen Ukraine,” Kuleba wrote on Twitter.
As previously reported, on Saturday the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announced that he held a meeting with Rheinmetall defense concern CEO.
According to Kuleba, Armin Papperger and he discussed projects on increasing Ukraine’s capabilities for main battle tanks and other armored vehicles. It refers to both short-term and long-term projects in the defense sector.
Kuleba emphasized that Rheinmetall was ready to increase cooperation.
Earlier this month, Armin Papperger told German media that Rheinmetall was willing to supply Ukraine with its latest weapons models, including KF51 Panther future tanks. He underlined that negotiations with Kyiv were already ongoing.
Also in February, Rheinmetall began producing hundreds of thousands of 35mm ammunition for Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns owned by Ukraine.
