The Security Service and the National Police of Ukraine detained an enemy agent who was preparing a terrorist attack in Zhytomyr on behalf of Russia.
The SSU stated that the enemy’s accomplice was a 16-year-old schoolboy from the Zhytomyr region.
According to the investigation, the underage terrorist was to leave an improvised explosive device disguised in a backpack on alley.
At that moment, the Russian invaders planned to remotely detonate the explosives together with their agent.
In this way, the Russian special service hoped to achieve two goals: to commit a bloody terrorist attack with many victims, and to eliminate its agent as an “unnecessary witness”.
SSU counterintelligence exposed the enemy’s plan in advance and detained the perpetrator red-handed when the young man was approaching the site of the planned terrorist attack.
According to the investigation, the schoolboy made the improvised explosive device himself according to instructions from his Russian supervisor.
To disguise the explosives, he put them in a saucepan, and to increase their destructive effect, he additionally stuffed them with iron screws.
Then, instead of going to school, the young man took a taxi to Zhytomyr to prepare for the attack.
The agent was in constant communication with the Russian special service officer during the entire journey to the central alley.
After receiving a report on arrival at the destination, the Russians were to activate the improvised explosive device by calling a cell phone that was connected to the explosives. However, due to proactive law enforcement actions, the tragedy was prevented.
Russian special services recently attempted to coerce a 15-year-old Ukrainian girl into carrying explosives into a police station in Chernihiv as a suicide bomber.
