The Latvian government will allocate €5 million to the PURL (Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List) initiative – a joint NATO and U.S. effort to support Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia announced this.
The initiative aims to finance the delivery of U.S.-supplied weapons to Ukraine’s Defense Forces, funded through contributions from other NATO member states.
“It is essential to continue supporting Ukraine by all possible means, as this is the only way to strengthen its ability to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to achieve victory in the fight against the aggressor state, Russia,” emphasized Latvian Minister of Defence Andris Sprūds.
According to the Cabinet’s decision, Latvia’s contribution in 2025 will total €5 million, of which €3 million will come from the Ministry of Defense budget, and €2 million from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Previously, a Latvian company won a contract from the Drone Coalition to supply Ukraine with drones worth €24 million.
The first batches of drones were scheduled to be delivered to Ukraine as early as this fall.
