Latvia has prepared a military aid package for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which will include armored personnel carriers.

Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa announced the new assistance package during a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

The day before, the Latvian portal LSM reported that the aid package would also include military equipment.

During a meeting on September 11 in Kyiv, Denys Shmyhal and Evika Siliņa discussed expanding cooperation between the two countries in all areas related to strengthening the Ukrainian military on the battlefield.

In particular, they discussed cooperation between defense companies.

“I thank the Latvian Government and people for their concrete and consistent steps to strengthen Ukraine’s position in the fight against the aggressor. In particular, for the Drone Coalition for Ukraine initiative and the supply of drones for Ukrainian soldiers,” the Ukrainian Prime Minister stated.

During the meeting, Evika Siliņa announced another military assistance package, which will include armored personnel carriers.

In addition, according to the LSM portal, the Internal Security Bureau of Latvia will donate jackets and boots, fleece jackets, one drone with a bag and battery, and several binoculars to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In August, Defense Minister Andris Sprūds stated that Latvia had prepared the largest batch of drones produced by local companies for transfer to Ukraine. According to him, this batch consists of 1,400 drones that are supposed to assist the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the war.

He added that this completed the Ministry of Defense’s purchase of more than 2,700 drones from Latvian industry for Ukraine’s needs.

The Minister also noted that Latvia had provided Ukraine with a total of 3,000 drones of various types and specifications as part of the international Drone Coalition, which it led.

At the beginning of the next year, Latvia will host an international summit to promote the Drone Coalition for Ukraine.
