A massive fire broke out in the Russian city of Kursk on Tuesday, July 2, with thick black smoke visible from different parts of the city.

Russian Telegram channel Astra published the eyewitness video.

Ukrainian OSINT researchers from the CyberBoroshno Telegram channel identified what was burning on the territory of the 3754th Central Aviation Technical Base (military unit 13830).

The first reports of a massive fire in the center of the Russian city of Kursk were published in local public media after 10 a.m.

Russians started publishing photos and videos from different parts of the city showing black smoke rising up.

The fire was later confirmed by Alexei Smirnov, acting governor of the Kursk region.

He stated that 60 employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and 10 units of special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.

Based on eyewitness video, analysts of the CyberBoroshno Telegram channel determined that the fire broke out on the territory of the 3754th Central Aviation Technical Base (military unit 13830) at the coordinates 51.772319, 36.191305.

Analysts of the Dnipro OSINT with Harbuz team assume that the parking lot of this Russian military unit is on fire.

Local authorities have not officially reported what caused the fire. They only state that there is no information about the victims.

Yesterday, as a result of a massive drone attack on the Russian city of Belgorod’s power grid facilities, part of the region remains without electricity.

According to eyewitnesses, the drones attacked the area where the substations are located near the village of Neznamovo around 2 a.m.
