Kyiv Supplied 72nd Mechanized Brigade with 900 FPV Drones

The soldiers of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade have received a large batch of FPV drones from the capital’s community.

The press service of the Kyiv City State Administration reported this.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klytschko noted that the military received 900 UAVs specially modified based on the brigade’s request.

These drones were purchased with funds from the city budget.

As the mayor of the capital pointed out, the soldiers of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians are defending Ukraine from Russian invaders in the hottest frontlines of Donbas.

“This year, Kyiv has already supplied 1,300 UAVs to the soldiers of the 72nd Brigade (500 in January and 800 in March). With today’s delivery, the total number is now 2,200 FPV drones,” Klytschko noted.

He added that since the beginning of 2025, the city budget has allocated 45 million UAH to the 72nd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These funds are for equipping and addressing the urgent needs of the military.

The Kyiv City State Administration reminded that this year, the Kyiv City Council has already allocated over UAH 5.5 billion to support the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Militarnyi reported in March that the Kyiv community had provided the soldiers of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade with 2,000 drones.

This batch of aid for the military included 1,000 Mavic 3 Pro drones and 1,000 FPV drones of various types, with a total value of UAH 100 million.

It is worth noting that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are using BEAK bomb-drop drones developed by Origin Robotics. According to the manufacturer, it can target enemy positions up to 15 kilometers deep and is resistant to electronic warfare. The BEAK is made from military-grade components.

The maximum takeoff weight of the device is 11 kilograms, and its combat payload can include up to three munitions with a total weight of up to 4 kilograms. In addition to its strike role, the drone can also perform reconnaissance tasks. For this purpose, it is equipped with an optical module with both daylight and thermal imaging channels that is capable of detecting people at a distance of up to one kilometer.
