During the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, hundreds of Russian soldiers have already surrendered.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are replenishing the exchange fund, and all prisoners of war are guaranteed humane treatment.

Russia does not officially recognize that its soldiers are surrendering.

However, videos were repeatedly published on social media, allegedly showing Russian prisoners of war from the Kursk region.

Military analyst Geschlittert stated that as of August 12, Ukrainian troops captured at least 265 Russian soldiers.

The analyst drew this conclusion from all the published videos with POWs, in which he calculated the number of Russians in captivity in the Kursk region.

The rapid advance deep into the territory of the aggressor country led to the disorganisation of the Russian military units that were directly on the border or in the near rear.

Since the first days of the offensive, Ukrainian troops have been posting videos and photos of Russian POWs on social media.

Only at the Sudzha checkpoint on the border between Ukraine and Russia in the Kursk region, on the first day of the Ukrainian army’s offensive, several Russian soldiers surrendered.

At the time, the military reported on social media that there were “about 50” Russian soldiers who had raised the white flag.

As previously reported, in the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces managed to take control of 74 Russian settlements.

Inspections and stabilization activities are underway on the territory currently controlled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
