More than a hundred global arms and technology producers will take part in the Ukrainian Defense Forum DFNC1 to be held this fall.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba made such an announcement.
“The forum will give a powerful impetus to joint production and cooperation for strengthening Ukraine and its partners. We are working together with the Minister of Strategic Industries Kamyshin and the Minister of Defense Umierov to make the forum a success story,” Kuleba said.
A total of 165 defense companies from 26 countries have confirmed their participation. According to Minister of Strategic Industries Kamyshin, a large number of companies from the United States will join as well.
“I met separately with more than ten top U.S. defense companies. Most of them are interested in working with Ukraine. There are lively ideas for joint projects. Partnership with companies of this level is a long way. But the arsenal of the free world is always built in partnership,” Kamyshin said.
On August 2, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the first Defense Industries Forum would be held in Ukraine.
The Defense Industries Forum, which will be held for the first time this fall, will become a platform for communication between global defense companies and Ukrainian manufacturers, as well as military and political leadership.
The main aim of the event is to establish cooperation between Ukrainian and foreign companies to create new capacities, and establish joint production of weapons, repair of equipment and development of defense technologies.
Such transnational projects should result in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and industrial potential.
In May of this year, it became known that the British defense company BAE Systems would open an office in Ukraine to deploy arms production and repair facilities. In particular, the production of L119 howitzers will be launched.
German defense concern Rheinmetall also plans to launch its own armored plant in Ukraine.
At the beginning of this year, the company announced that the cost of the planned armored plant would be €200 million, and its design capacity would allow for the production of about 400 tanks a year.
