Russia has proposed building a drone manufacturing facility in Belarus.
This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin during an exhibition of Russian drones attended by Alexander Lukashenko.
According to Oreshkin, the project would involve the production of all key components and incorporate Russian “technological developments and solutions.”
“It is crucial for Belarus to have its own production capabilities that support not only the economy but also ensure true sovereignty in the security sector,” he said.
Russia’s basic offer includes constructing a factory with an annual production capacity of up to 100,000 drones.
The plant, which Oreshkin said could be built within a year, would be fully localized and operate on a unified technological platform with similar facilities in Russia.
Lukashenko expressed his willingness to cooperate on the project.
“We are ready to build the plant. I guarantee you won’t build anything like this in Russia,” he said.
He also suggested forming a team of Belarusian specialists to undergo additional training in Russia on the development of unmanned aviation systems.
It remains unclear which types of drones Russia intends to produce in Belarus.
At the exhibition, one model—visually similar to a drone used by Russian forces in attacks on civilians in the Ukrainian city of Sumy—drew particular attention.
Other showcased models included previously known designs, such as the Zala F-16 reconnaissance drone.
