Soldiers of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign have begun learning to ride motorcycles.
The brigade’s press service released a video of the training.
“Just yesterday, assaults were carried out under the cover of armor, and today — under the roar of engines. We’re teaching our recruits to ride motorcycles,” the statement said.
The brigade emphasizes that a motorcycle is not just about speed and maneuverability, but also the ability to reach places where armored vehicles can’t pass or drones can’t fly.
Motorcycles are seen by the brigade as an effective means of transporting supplies, including ammunition, as well as for evacuating the wounded.
It is specifically emphasized that this is not about creating motorcycle assault units — the training is being conducted “to be useful not tomorrow, but today.”
The first unit to form a motorcycle company focused on assault operations was the 425th Skala Separate Assault Regiment. This was reported by Militarnyi back on May 20.
Just two days later, on May 22, it became known that this motorcycle company took part in offensive operations in the Kursk direction. This type of assault operation was used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time.
During the mission, the assault group broke through engineering barriers at high speed — including Dragon’s teeth, crossed the state border, reached enemy positions, captured them, and then made a rapid withdrawal using motorcycles.
In addition, the unit evacuated the crew of a damaged combat vehicle using a quad bike, and also evacuated a wounded comrade on a motorcycle.
During training, Skala’s motorcyclists practiced moving in large swarms — with two fighters on each motorcycle: a driver and a gunner.
Both were armed with AKS-74U assault rifles, which, by design, was intended to simplify shooting on the move, as well as to enhance maneuverability and effective weapon handling. After dismounting, the driver and gunner operated as a pair.
According to the soldiers, the regiment provided full and high-quality training for the personnel — with no limitations on fuel or ammunition.
