The Ukrainian National Guard has received its first American M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.
According to TSN, the armored vehicles were transferred to the NGU’s Khartiia Brigade. This makes the unit the first in the National Guard to receive such vehicles.
The soldiers are already practicing assault operations on the Bradleys, as well as training in the evacuation of the wounded.
The military notes that the equipment significantly increases their combat capabilities, as it provides high mobility and protection for personnel.
At the same time, the use of armored vehicles is complicated by new challenges of modern warfare, primarily the widespread use of strike drones.
Nevertheless, experience in operating the Bradleys allows the National Guard to adapt their tactics and respond more quickly to changing situations.
Until now, Bradley fighting vehicles have been used exclusively by the units of the Ukrainian Army and Air Assault Forces.
Back in July, the US State Department approved the sale of Bradley IFVs and their maintenance to Ukraine.
At that time, the potential sale of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and their maintenance, repair, and overhaul, as well as related equipment, was estimated at approximately $150 million.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have also mastered the repair of American IFVs. In particular, they have mastered the repair of engines, components and assemblies, electrical equipment, and weapons.
The M2 Bradley IFV is a versatile ‘soldier’ on the battlefield. Its M242 Bushmaster 25 mm cannon can penetrate most Russian equipment, firing both single shots and devastating bursts at a rate of up to 500 rounds per minute.
Modern optics allow you to see targets at a distance of up to 10 km — as if they were right in front of you. The fire control system is a true “sniper” among guns. A powerful diesel engine provides speeds of up to 66 km/h and allows you to maneuver effectively on the battlefield.
