In Kharkiv, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will carry out overhaul of the batch of Т-80 tanks.

Reported by Militarnyi with reference to the statement of the Director of the State enterprise to the publication “Uryadovuy courier”.

The State Enterprise “Kharkiv Armored Plant” had to sign a contact with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine the other day.

According to the Director of the Kharkiv enterprise Herman Smetanin, the contract concerns the overhaul of Т-80 tanks.

“The other day we signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense for the overhaul of T-80 tanks”, – said Herman Smetanin.

It is pointed that this contract should be an addition to existing orders.

Recall that the Ukrainian enterprise “Kharkiv Armored Plant” is also engaged in the modernization of Т-80 tanks.

Thus, in 2019, the company carried out the modernization of the Т-80BV tank.

Then the upgraded tank Т-80BV received a thermal imaging sight, new reactive armour, additional protection of the sides, a new digital radio station, modern night observation devices with a third-generation optical converter, as well as satellite navigation tools.

In Ukraine, tanks are Т-80BV in service with units of the Air Assault Forces and the Marines of Ukraine.

The company is modernizing the Т-80 on the experience of works carried out on tanks Т-64 mod. 2017. Which also received thermal imaging sights, modern communications, navigation, reactive armour, etc.

In 2021, the State Enterprise “Lviv Armored Plant” also mastered the repair and modernization of the main combat tanks of the Т-80.
