In Sevastopol, in the temporarily occupied Crimea, an explosion occurred in the area of the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.
This happened today, August 20, approximately shortly after 8 a.m.
Videos of smoke rising over the headquarters building began to appear on social media and local social media groups.
The published footage shows a kamikaze drone over the bay approaching the building, while Russians are trying to shoot it down with small arms.
Despite the invaders’ actions, the drone went down to the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation and struck the roof of the building, after which a column of smoke rose.
The so-called “governor” of the temporarily occupied Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, wrote at 08:42 on his telegram that “25 minutes ago, a drone flew into the roof. Unfortunately, it was not shot down, although small arms worked on the bay.” According to him, “there are no casualties.”
He later clarified that the drone was still shot down “right over the headquarters of the fleet,” after which it fell on the roof and caught fire.
Russian occupiers have already blamed Ukrainian forces for the attack. The Ukrainian military has not yet commented on that situation.
Social media users mentioned at night the air defense units’ reactions in Yevpatoria and Sevastopol in the occupied Crimea.
On August 9, the explosions occurred in Novofedorivka near Yevpatoria. Based on the satellite images published later, presumably at least 8-9 aircraft were destroyed, as well as premises that looked like depots.
Recorded losses:
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, through Russian media, said that the cause of the explosions at a military airfield in the village of Novofedorivka (Saki AB) was the “detonation of several aircraft ammunition.”
