The Ukrainian Air Force performed an airstrike on Russian forces in Soledar, Donetsk region.
A reconnaissance drone operated by the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade recorded the strike.
A Mavic 3 drone recorded the impact of two GBU-62 JDAM-ER guided bombs.
Russian forces have occupied Soledar since January 2024 and have since established positions there.
Soledar is a small city located about 10 kilometers northeast of Bakhmut.
JDAM-ER precision-guided bombs are considered suitable for targeting fixed Russian positions in the area.
The Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) is a guidance kit that converts unguided bombs into precision-guided munitions.
The kit includes a tail section with control fins and an inertial navigation system paired with a GPS receiver.
The standard JDAM has a range of up to 28 kilometers and a circular error probable of approximately 11 meters.
The aircraft initializes the navigation system prior to release. After separation from the aircraft, the munition navigates independently to the designated target coordinates.
Target coordinates can be preloaded before takeoff, updated by the crew in flight, or received via a data link from onboard targeting equipment.
The flight path of the bomb can be programmed to impact the target from a specific angle.
Ukraine has received the extended-range JDAM-ER variant, which has a range of up to 72.4 kilometers.
While the exact model is not publicly confirmed, photos indicate that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are using 500-pound (230 kg) versions.
The bombs have been integrated for use with MiG-29 fighter aircraft.
