The Japanese police are helping to train medical experts of the National Police of Ukraine to identify victims of war.

The Japanese media Sankei News reported about this.

Ten specialists from the State Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine arrived in Japan for training.

They will learn to identify dead and buried people who became victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

On June 29, ten members of the National Police of Ukraine will undergo training together with their Japanese colleagues.

Another ten specialists will arrive in Japan for training on July 10. This is the first assistance to Ukraine from the National Police Agency of Japan.

Over ten years, Japanese police officers have performed over 15,830 autopsies on people in three prefectures – Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima. The percentage of person identification was 99.7%.

Militarnyi previously reported that on June 8, 2023, two soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine arrived in Japan for treatment at the Japan Self-Defense Forces hospital in Tokyo.

Their treatment and rehabilitation were to take place at the Self-Defense Forces Central Hospital in Setagaya, Tokyo.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Japan, the provision of medical aid to wounded soldiers is carried out at the request of the Ukrainian government.

The Japanese government will bear the medical expenses of approximately ¥2.2 million to ¥4.2 million per person (approx. $15,83-30,23 thousand).

The treatment of wounded soldiers who lost one and two limbs will last between 1 and 2 months, respectively.
