On Thursday, April 6, the northern border areas of Israel were subjected to massive missile fire from the territory of Lebanon.
In response, the country’s air force has carried out airstrikes on Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, on April 6, 34 missiles were launched from the territory of Lebanon into Israel’s territory, 25 of them were intercepted by air defense forces. The IDF blames the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which is based in the Gaza Strip, for these attacks.
The media reported that the missile fire came amid heightened tensions in Israel after several days of shelling from the Gaza Strip, as well as clashes near the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel also placed responsibility for the missile attack on Hamas.
On the night of Friday, April 7, the Israel Defense Forces reported that the aircraft had struck two underground tunnels and two weapons production facilities in the Gaza Strip.
“A short while ago, IDF fighter jets struck a terror tunnel in the area of Beit Hanoun and a terror tunnel in the area of Khan Yunis, which was struck during operation “Guardian of The Walls”. Since the strike, efforts were identified to rebuild it. The two tunnels did not cross into Israeli territory and did not pose a threat to Israeli civilians.
In addition, two weapon manufacturing sites belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization were struck in the northern and central Gaza Strip. The strike was done as a response to the security violations of Hamas during the last few days,” the IDF press service emphasized.
Israeli warplanes have also hit targets in Lebanon during the night.
“The IDF struck targets including terrorist infrastructures belonging to Hamas in southern Lebanon,” the Israeli military said.
It should be noted that the last time Israel was subjected to massive shelling from Lebanon was in August 2021, when 19 missiles were fired at the north of the country.
