Israel may be behind the drone attacks in Iran on the night of Sunday, January 29.
WSJ writes about this with reference to unnamed U.S. officials.
The Israeli military refused to comment on this situation.
The US edition, citing people familiar with the situation, writes that the drone strike on Iran’s defense plant could have been carried out by Israel, as this country, together with the United States, is looking for new ways to curb Tehran’s nuclear and military ambitions.
Several other U.S. officials declined to comment, beyond saying that Washington played no role.
Besides, Pentagon spokesperson Brigadier General Patrick Ryder said no U.S. military forces were involved in strikes in Iran, but declined to comment further, Reuters reports.
The attack came amid tension between Iran and the West over Tehran’s nuclear activity and its supply of arms – including long-range kamikaze drones – for Russia’s war in Ukraine, as well as months of anti-government demonstrations in Iran.
As previously reported, on the night of January 29, in the Iranian city of Isfahan, the premises of one of the factories were attacked by three drones.
Iran’s Defense Ministry said its air defense systems shot down one of the drones and two others exploded over a building, causing minor damage to the roof. According to the country’s authorities, the attack did not cause significant damage. No casualties were reported as a result of the explosions.
Later, the Iranian media showed the wreckage of the drones that were allegedly used to attack the factory building.

OSINT researcher Oliver Alexander suggested that the shown wreckage from a drone was (basically) identical to the supposed Israeli drone captured in Lebanon in 2019.
