The Ministry of Defense of Israel launches a large-scale purchase of artillery shells.

The country’s Ministry of Defense reported this on Monday.

Tens of thousands of 155-mm artillery shells will be purchased from the defense company Elbit Systems.

Their value is ILS 250 million, which is more than $65 million.

Ammunition is intended for the IDF artillery corps.

Delivery of new shells is expected in 2024.

Projectiles will be produced at several Elbit Systems plants at once.

As previously reported, at the beginning of 2023, the Israeli company Elbit Systems announced a $70-million contract for ammunition production for a European country. The term of the agreement is three years.

122mm rocket projectiles with a range of up to 40 km will be supplied as part of the agreement. These are probably Accular rockets.

The rocket can be equipped with a unitary penetration or controlled fragmentation warhead.

Already in July, Elbit Systems received a $150 million contract to supply PULS (Precise and Universal Launching Systems) launchers and a package of high-precision long-range missiles for an unknown foreign customer. The contract will be executed for three years.

The launcher operators include Azerbaijan, which uses an older version called Lynx, and Israel, where this launcher is called Lahav. Denmark and the Netherlands are expecting the system delivery.
