The “Iron Range” project will be launched in Ukraine to support Ukrainian arms manufacturers.
Militarnyi reports on this.
Colonel Andriy Lebedenko, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, shared that this is a joint project of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Strategic Industries.
The project’s main objective is to support Ukrainian manufacturers and reduce the production time of new weapons for the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
“We want to create this testing ground, which will allow the manufacturer to get access to a professional assessment of his product, guide them through the methodology of all tests, provide a site and appropriate means for evaluating the characteristics of certain products, and assist in the paperwork,” Lebedenko explained.
According to him, there are many arms manufacturers in Ukraine who are actively creating new weapons for our defenders.
Lebedenko also noted that the current system suggests more complicated procedures for manufacturers to obtain access to site testing.
Within the Iron Range framework, it is planned to open 3 areas: robotic systems, drones, and electronic warfare systems.
Due to this project, Ukrainian manufacturers will be able to test their weapons at any stage of readiness. At the same time, the Armed Forces will provide communications regarding the reservation of the time and date of testing.
According to Colonel Lebedenko, it is planned that the “Iron Range” should start operating within a month.
As of March, more than 50 new ground unmanned systems of various purposes were tested for the military through the Brave1 cluster in Ukraine.
The tests included strike platforms, turrets, and platforms that destroy Russian positions and equipment, mine, demine, evacuate the wounded, and deliver ammunition to the positions.
