Ukraine has received five radar stations from Ireland, the type of which has not been officially disclosed.

This is stated in the transcript of the government debate held on October 14.

According to government official Neil Richmond, Ukraine has received 34 vehicles from Ireland in recent months, including ambulances, a fire truck, and five radar stations.

In mid-September, three Reacher demining robots were handed over to the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group and the demining coalition.

In the coming weeks, the Irish military will conduct another basic training module for Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel through the European Union Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM).

This will bring the total number of training modules conducted by Irish instructors to 22.

It is likely that the radar stations transferred are Giraffe Mark IV, which were announced earlier this year.

It is known that Ireland has a total of seven Giraffe Mark IV radars in service, purchased in 2008.

Giraffe Mk IV

The Giraffe Mk IV is a mobile air defense early warning and control radar system developed by the Swedish company Saab.

It is one of the oldest models in the Giraffe family of radars designed to detect low-flying air targets in difficult electronic warfare conditions and in the presence of natural or artificial obstacles.

The Giraffe Mk IV radar is mounted on the chassis of the BV206 tracked all-terrain vehicle.

The Mk IV model is equipped with a retractable mast that allows the antenna to be raised to a height sufficient to detect low-flying targets, including those in the area of cover behind terrain or buildings.

The system was first introduced in 1977 and was supplied to the armies of Sweden, Finland, Lithuania and Ireland.

The detection range of the Irish Giraffe is up to 50 kilometers, and the station can track up to 20 air targets simultaneously.
