A meeting took place between the delegations of the defense ministries of Iran and Belarus, during which the parties agreed to expand military cooperation.
The Islamic Republic News Agency reported on this.
The negotiations were attended by the Minister of Defense of Iran, General Aziz Nasirzadeh, and the Chairman of the State Military Industry Committee, Dmitry Pantus.
The parties emphasized the importance of strengthening defense and industrial partnership, discussed the implementation of previously signed agreements, and explored the prospects for further cooperation.
The Iranian delegation confirmed its readiness to deepen cooperation, particularly in the area of technology transfer.
For its part, the Belarusian side expressed satisfaction with the growing level of partnership and emphasized the need to accelerate joint projects in the field of military equipment production.
It is worth noting that Belarus is already using Iranian-made weapons.
In July 2024, it was reported that Shahed-136 drones had been demonstrated in Belarus during the Independence Day parade.
The first letter of the serial number indicates that these drones are fully manufactured in Russia.
In January, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement.
The agreement covers various areas: economy, trade, energy, science, technology, and military.
It is concluded for a period of 20 years with the possibility of automatic renewal every 5 years.
It is subject to ratification and will enter into force 30 days after the date of the last written notification of the completion of the relevant internal procedures.
