US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that Iran could ship even more kamikaze drones to the Russian Federation since the United States again condemned Tehran for assisting Russia.
Bloomberg reports this.
“We believe that so far, Russia received dozens of these UAVs from Iran, with more potentially in the works,” he shared during a briefing with Catherine Colonna, French Foreign Minister.
Blinken made this statement a day after the White House confirmed Iran sending its instructors to occupied Crimea, where they were to provide advice and train the Russian military.
Antony Blinken also emphasized that the United States is working to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to repel attacks.
“We are counteracting the illicit arms traffic, including UAVs, wherever we can locate them, find, and interdict. We’re continuing to build up the defenses of our partners, including Ukraine, against the use of UAVs or any other kind of weapons systems that Iran might be involved in,” Blinken said.
In recent weeks, the Russian Federation has been actively using Iranian kamikaze drones to attack Ukrainian infrastructure.
At the same time, Russia and Iran deny their cooperation.
Meanwhile, Reuters journalists, citing their own sources among officials and diplomats, reported that the agreement between Moscow and Tehran is valid. Through it, Iran is going to provide Russia with short- and medium-range ballistic missiles. This likely includes Fateh 110 and Zolfaghar missiles.
Ukraine, for its part, called on Iran to stop supplying weapons to the Russian Federation. In addition, Dmytro Kuleba, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, submitted to President Zelensky a proposal to terminate diplomatic relations with Iran.
Ukraine also referred to Israel to provide air defense systems to counter attacks by Iranian drones.
So far, specific agreements with Israel on providing assistance to Ukraine are unknown.
