The invaders started using laser-guided 2S4 Tyulpan mortar rounds near Avdiivka.

The published footage, captured by a ZALA-421 reconnaissance drone, shows the use of 240-mm high-precision 3F5 mortar rounds from the 1K113 system.

1K113, also known as “Smelchak,” was developed in the USSR in the 1970s for use with self-propelled and towed 240mm mortars.

The round is guided by a 1D15 laser designator-rangefinder or laser targeting from a drone with this capability.

Correction on the final trajectory is performed using impulse steering with mini-thrusters when 1 to 3 seconds of target illumination is required to hit the target accurately.

The mortar round’s warhead is a high explosive, weighing 32.5 kg. The firing range can vary between 3 and 9 kilometers.

It should be noted that this is not the first case of using 3F5 240mm high-precision mortar rounds in Ukraine.

Earlier, these rounds were spotted during the fighting in Mariupol and Bakhmut, where Russians were actively using 2S4 Tyulpan systems to shell the city and Ukrainian defenders’ positions.

Militarnyi previously reported that the Russian invaders started to use Lancet layouts in positions from where they carry out real launches of loitering munitions.

According to the author of the post, despite the placement of layouts on these positions, this does not prevent the enemy from using these positions for real launches.

It should be noted that the number of cases of use of Lancets at the front has significantly decreased. This may be due to Ukrainian attacks on the facilities of the Russian defense industry.
