Invaders Started Building Infrastructure for Shaheds on the Site of METRO in Donetsk. It Has Already Been Struck

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have destroyed the infrastructure at the Donetsk airport, which the enemy planned to use for Shahed kamikaze drones.

The corresponding satellite images were published by the CyberBoroshno community.

According to these images, the infrastructure was being set up on the territory of the former METRO store, which is located about 1 km from the runway.

The building was attacked 5-6 times, as evidenced by the holes in the roof. There are no reports of any damage to equipment or other items inside the building. Coordinates of the building: 48.065190, 37.746970

In early August, Militarnyi reported that satellite images had shown that work was underway at the abandoned parking lots, presumably in preparation for the installation of fuel tanks or other equipment.

Changes were also recorded on the runway, where mounds were removed. Work was also carried out on the territory of the former METRO building.

According to the analysis of the CyberBoroshno community, the airport is being equipped with infrastructure for the use of Shahed and Gerbera drones with remote control.

At the same time, manual control points, places for unloading combat units, false positions, aerial observation posts, and runway preparation are being created.

It should be noted that today the known launch sites for Shahed kamikaze drones are the airfield in Primorsko-Akhtarsk and a facility in the Oryol region. In both cases, the drones are launched using pickup trucks that are accelerated along a long stretch of road, after which the drone is launched.

Given the clearing of the runway, there is a high probability that attack drones will also be launched from the territory of the DAP in a similar manner.

Nevertheless, the Russians also practice launching drones from catapults they receive from China.

This was confirmed by the fact that the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) found Chinese components in the drones that Russia used to attack Kyiv on the night of July 4th, including mounts for launching Shaheds from a catapult.
