The Brave1 defense tech cluster has announced the results of the first phase of the EU4UA Defence Tech grant program.
According to posts on its social media, 12 Ukrainian companies have been selected to receive up to €150,000 each.
The funding will support the development of technologies to strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s airspace.
The grant program is aimed at developing technologies capable of providing a rapid response to the daily large-scale attacks by Russian drones.
Among the selected projects are critical solutions ranging from interceptor drones to advanced systems for detecting aerial targets (radar systems).
The project is being implemented in three stages. At this stage, teams have six months to refine and test their technological developments, which are expected to help protect Ukraine’s airspace in the future.
The launch of EU4UA Defence Tech was announced in early December last year. The program’s total budget, which includes three stages, amounts to €3.3 million.
The program will fund the validation of Ukrainian companies’ technologies, as well as the development and testing of prototypes.
It was announced that, in the first stage, support would be provided to solutions in the field of high-speed interceptors capable of reaching speeds of up to 450 km/h, as well as modern radar systems.
The program is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO) in partnership with Brave1.
In March, the America Ukraine Strategic Partners (AUSP) organization introduced a new digital platform designed to connect leading defense companies from the United States and NATO countries with promising Ukrainian military technology developers.
The main goal of the project is to accelerate the integration of Ukrainian innovations into Western procurement systems and to foster the creation of joint defense programs.
