The Indian Armed Forces received over 100 units of Warmate loitering munition from the Polish company WB Group.

Electronics India, the subsidiary of WB which was established in October 2020 and is based in New Delhi, will be implementing this contract.

According to reports, the new beneficiaries of the Warmate loitering munitions (so-called kamikaze drones) would become Indian special forces.

This weapon was chosen as a result of a competitive procedure, during which comparative tests were conducted with loitering munitions of other world manufacturers.

The purchase came out of this competitive procedure, and a request was sent in 2020. This contract involved over 100 (probably 120) units of munition.

Kamikaze drones of the world’s leading companies, including Israel and the United States, have passed comparative tests in the field. Warmate’s loitering munition was the winner of the competitive procedure.

An important condition, as in many other arms procurement procedures, was domestic production in India.

Therefore, the supply of Warmate ammunition for the Indian Army will be handled by WB Electronics India Ltd, in which the Polish WB Group owns 50% of the shares.

In Poland, further contracts are expected from the Indian Armed Forces, including those regarding the new batches of Warmate kamikaze drones.

Warmate is a loitering munition developed by WB Electronics. It was first introduced in 2014. The manufacturer claims that the ammunition is a good alternative to anti-tank-guided missiles. It allows destroying the enemy equipment at a greater distance and simplifying the process of detecting and hitting targets compared to ATGMs.

The strike system in the 3.0 version has improved parameters. These include, among other things, an increase in radio range and operating range. The new version is equipped with an engine producing much less noise. The system has the ability to automatically fold the propeller blades in the terminal phase of the attack.
