The U.S. Air Force began installing special anti-drone facilities to protect combat aviation.

Suitable anti-drone shelters were spotted at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina.

According to official information of the U.S. Air Force, such shelters should provide operational deployment to protect aircraft.

“The requirement: Build a passive barrier that will prevent a Group 1 or Group 2 sUAS from making physical contact with an F-15E Strike Eagle using commercial off the shelf material,” the statement said.

The U.S. military divides unmanned aircraft systems into five groups based on maximum weight, operating altitude, and maximum speed.

As for the shelter, structurally it should consist of light materials, which can also be easily collected by several military.

At the moment, the United States does not pay enough attention to protecting aircraft from drones that can cause huge damage, especially at airbases in the Middle East.

Currently, anti-drone shelters at the request of the U.S. Air Force should provide protection for aircraft against 25-kilogram drones, which at a speed of 200 km/h can hit shelters.

It is currently unknown whether the air force faced situations where its aircraft could be targeted by small drones, but, as the military notes, this is generally possible at air bases in the Middle East and Europe.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that the Russians had begun to build airfield hangars to protect aviation from attack drones and missiles with a cluster warhead.

According to unofficial sources, the development of protective hangars was an initiative of local businessmen, and not the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
