In the Armed Forces of Ukraine, about 25 helicopters were prepared for conducting day and night combat operations.
This was announced at a briefing by the adviser to the commander of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on public relations Ivan Gavrilyuk.
For this purpose, about 70 sets of protective headgears and night-vision goggles of foreign production were purchased.
These include HGU-56/P Lightweight Rotary Wing Helmets (RWH) and night vision goggles F-4949.
The procurement allowed to equip about 25 helicopters of different types of the Ukrainian Air Force and the Army Aviation of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
First developed by Harris in 1992, the F4949 Series (AN/AVS-9) aviation night vision goggles is the standard night flying system for the air crews of the U.S. Air Force and Navy and is in service with militaries worldwide.
F4949 is equipped with gen 3 tube performance offering high resolution, high gain, photoresponse to near infrared, and exceptional reliability.

In the beginning of last year, we reported about the training of pilots of Ukrainian Мі-8 helicopters, from the UN peacekeeping continent in DR Congo, for hostilities at night.
In addition to training in the dark, the task was complicated by the location of the Goma International Airport in mountains.
Although according to the Minsk Agreements, aviation is not applied in the area of the Joint Forces Operation, this does not prevent our aviators from training in the night at certain airfields and landfills.
