In Kharkiv, the SSU exposed a hidden warehouse of tank spare parts that were intended for the invaders.
The Security Service of Ukraine reported about this.
In the underground storage there were 19 tank engines and other components for armored vehicles of about $1.5 million total cost.
This equipment is enough to repair half of the tank battalion.
The SSU found that 61-year-old Kharkiv resident had set up this illegal storage.
He colluded with the employees of local enterprises of the military-industrial complex, organized the theft and accumulation of tank engines of the 5TDFA model.
According to the SSU, the units were supposed to be transferred to Russian troops in case of their infiltration to Kharkiv.
The SSU investigators initiated criminal proceedings under Art. 111 of the Criminal Code (treason committed during martial law).
Investigative measures are in progress to find out all persons involved in the crime.
5TD-type engines belong to series of two-stroke 5-cylinder diesel engines, created in a specialized tank engine construction bureau at the Malyshev Kharkiv plant. Multi-fuel engines designed for various modifications of Т-64 tanks.
The first engines had numerous flaws, and bringing the engine resource up to 100 moto-hours was considered a great achievement.
Over time, however, the flaws were eliminated and the engine life improved to at least 500 moto-hours per 5TDF.
